About Legacy Tire & Service
Built on a Dream, Driven by Family
Legacy Tire and Service began with more than just a business idea—it started with a single phone call and a vision between two brothers. On a quiet stretch of highway bound for Little Rock, John Craft dialed his brother Mike, and the conversation that followed would lay the groundwork for something extraordinary.
After years working with BMW, John was ready to step into a new chapter. Meanwhile, Mike—immersed in the auto industry at LKQ—was eager to build something of his own. That pivotal conversation wasn’t just about starting a shop. It was about creating a business that prioritized trust, craftsmanship, and community—a place where people are treated like family from the moment they walk through the doors.
Rooted in Chelsea, Alabama
From the very beginning, the City of Chelsea embraced John and Mike’s vision. With overwhelming community support and an unwavering commitment to integrity and service, the brothers opened the first Legacy Tire and Service location in the heart of Chelsea. What they built was more than just a repair shop—it became a community cornerstone.
In 2011, a major milestone was achieved: the business moved into a brand-new facility atop the hill. This expansion marked the beginning of a new era of growth, enabling the team to better serve their loyal customers while reinforcing their role as a trusted local institution.
Growth Fueled by Purpose
Legacy’s journey didn’t stop in Chelsea. Their dedication to excellence and customer care sparked continued growth:
- In 2022, a second location opened in downtown Birmingham, bringing the Legacy experience to a broader community.
- By 2024, a third location was launched in Chalkville, Alabama, further cementing their footprint as a top-tier provider of automotive services in the region.
Despite the expansion, Legacy's values have never wavered. Each location is operated with the same care, honesty, and personal touch that defined their very first store.
A Family Tradition, Continued
Today, the next generation is carrying the torch. Zach Nesbitt, John’s son-in-law, and Ben Craft, Mike’s youngest son, are helping lead Legacy Tire and Service into the future. Their leadership reflects the same commitment to family, integrity, and community that started it all.
Together, they’re ensuring that the Legacy name continues to stand for quality, reliability, and personal service—now and for generations to come.
It’s Not Just About Tires
At Legacy, it’s about people. It’s about trust. It’s about family.
